Padres drop series to Dodgers, but good things lie ahead
After losing to the Dodgers are Sunday, it would be easy for the Padres to hang their head. But one peek at the upcoming schedule says they have a lot to look forward to.
That weekend was a bit of a rollercoaster. After losing a game on Friday that it felt like they could’ve won, the San Diego Padres overcame some minor obstacles to notch a win on Saturday before getting absolutely pantsed by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.
Today, the team is off. They’ll have time to lick their wounds. And, really, they were never going to overcome their demons in April anyway. Let the Dodgers do whatever they’re going to do. The goal, for the Padres, is to eventually meet them in the playoffs.
Perhaps the most troubling news out of the weekend for Padres fans is Luke Voit going on the 10-day IL with a bicep issue. Before he’s had a chance to make a real impact, Voit’s bugaboo (injury issues) already raises its ugly head. Not ideal, especially when Voit was acquired to fill the power gap in the lineup left by Fernando Tatis Jr.’s broken wrist.
It seems there are a lot of low-scoring affairs ahead for San Diego. Lucky for them, the schedule gets a lot easier starting now.
