Reds angry at ex-Yankees slugger Luke Voit for 'dirty' slide - New York Daily News

If the 2022 San Diego Padres are going anywhere, and the early signs is that they are doing a good job of staying above .500 while waiting for their superstar to return from injury, they’ll need to have a good record against lesser teams.

No team in baseball has gotten off to a worse start than the Reds, and it hasn’t even been particularly close. Just like it was a week ago, this is a series that the Padres need to stay focused on so that they can bank some wins. Anything less than a series win would be wildly disappointing.

San Diego Padres
10-7 overall
Last series: Lost 1-2 to the Los Angeles Dodgers

Cincinnati Reds
3-13 overall
Last series: Lost 1-2 to the St. Louis Cardinals

There’s no shame in losing a series to the Dodgers, although it probably feels worse because the Padres let go of the rope at the end and got the crap beat out of them.

The Padres and Reds met just last week at Petco Park, with the Padres sweeping the Reds and having a good time all around. They’ll be hoping for more of that in the Great American Ball Park.
