Time for a (small) change
The Padres have gone scoreless in two of their last three games and the offense is really struggling. There are some small changes coming, but will any of them help?
There’s two ways to currently think about the 2022 San Diego Padres.
They have scored in 1 of the last 30 innings and the offense is broken.
They have won 9 of their last 13 games and are in 2nd place in the hotly contested NL West. Their offense isn’t much, but they’re winning games with pitching and defense.
There’s no right choice here, it’s kind of like the glass being half full or half empty determining if you’re an optimist or pessimist.
But what presents itself is an opportunity. The Padres are good enough to win games with the offense doing nothing, but that means they can experiment with ways to get the offense going without sacrificing what makes them a good team.
There are several minor changes coming to the Padres in the next few days, and today I’m going to do my best to predict those changes and hopeful outcomes.
