John. I do appreciate your passion. As a fellow Padre fan, this year seems more shaky than many in recent years from a management perspective. In a situation like this, you might want to actually ask Acee what he was doing when he wrote the piece and if he stands by it all. He seems willing to email or talk to people with questions. I don't think what he wrote qualifies as journalistic malpractice, like we see on Fox News most of the time. I think he gets information from the Padres and probably has more than one source who might have confirmed that Yu was retiring and working on a buyout. However, Yu seems so loyal to SD and Preller and it might be fair to assume that he is working on a deal to stay in the front office during rehab and beyond, and was offended when he read or heard he had basically already retired. Like most things with the Padres and AJ, I guess we need to patient.
At this point, I don't think any of us can rule out some acquisitions...and we sure need a couple.
Another thing I've been thinking is that AJ signed his last contract, if I'm not mistaken, a while before it was announced. Do you think maybe that's the case here? I'd like to see him stay, that's for sure. Anyway, enjoyed the video. Continued good luck in what you decide to do.
